I used one Dewalt countersink bit to finish my project, drilling about 50 holes. I bought this set after breaking several countersink drill bits bought at major home improvement stores. Those bits would break after drilling 3 or 4 holes in my composite decking material. The Dewalt bit still looks as though it has not been used. I highly recommend this countersink set for any project involving composite decking boards.
I will probably repeat some other reviewers, but I have similar experience. If I had to do it all over again, I would have bought this set right away. The collar has multiple cutters (BTW, Hitachi collars have just 1).
That's what happened to me as well. screws to hold the collar in place without slipping. Other sets are cheaper, so you go for them, but you end up frustrated.
and 2 (not one). This is the best set on the market for general woodworking and furniture building (I am not including specialized bits and screws professional cabinet makers use). The drills are sharp and longer than competing sets, which gives you added flexibility to adjust depth.
The end result is that you can make clean, precise cut every time, without splinters, without fear that the collar will slip. Other sets will only waste your money and you will eventually end up buying this set anyway.
The drill bits are to long if installing screws less than 1½" unless you don't mind a hole on the other side of your work. It would be of benefit if the manufacture provided different length drill bits in the kit.
The Dewalt counntersinks are among the best that I have used. the tapered drills are consistent and the 4 cutters on the countersink make fast work, even in oak.
The collars easily adjust to different screw lengths and the collar don't slip. However, I would have only spent $10 extra to get them, if I had not tried to get cheaper sets first. This bit set is not cheap. My first cheap version would slip without me noticing, until I drill right out the front side of the project. I find that I'm using these more and more, from shed building to jig building. I have one of these bits in the cordless drill and a screw driver bit in the cordless impact driver. That is frustrating. But it doesn't happen any more.
